Agnihotra

Agnihotra is the basis of all the healing Homa fires derived from the ancient science of Ayurveda. It is a process of purifying and restoring nutrients to the atmosphere through a specially prepared fire performed at sunrise and sunset daily. A simple practice, it is considered an antidote to pollution as well as nourishment for the air, soil and water.

Who

Anyone in any walk of life can perform Agnihotra to heal the atmosphere in their own home. Many people experience that Agnihotra reduces stress, leads to greater clarity of thought, helps improve overall health, gives one increased energy, and makes the mind more full of love.

When

This daily practice helps to neutralize negative energies and reinforce positive energies which in turn helps the person who performs Agnihotra to establish a positive pattern and good habits. This primary Homa fire harmonizes the functioning of Prana (life energy).

How?

The fire is prepared in a small copper pyramid of specific size and shape. Dried cow dung, with ghee (clarified unsalted buter) and brown rice are burned in the pyramid. Exactly at sunrise or sunset Sanskrit mantras are spoken and a small amount of rice and ghee is given to the fire. There is not just energy from the fire; subtle energies are created by the rhythms and mantras.
